Recently the city of Valparaiso, Indiana formed a commission to look into whether or not fluoridation should be continued. After three months of investigation, the commission voted on August 7 to recommend the continuation of water fluoridation, saying that “it provides a health benefit that some people would not be able to afford on their own.” Chairman Dave Bengs said “The role of government is the public good and safety.” The recommendation will go to the utilities board and then to the city council for final approval, possibly by September.
