New Study: Medical Conspiracists & Health Behaviors
People who report agreeing with common medical conspiracy theories are more likely to use alternative health products and less likely to visit a dentist, according to survey results that were recently published in JAMA Internal Medicine. Six popular medical conspiracy theories were included, among them cancer cures, vaccines, and water fluoridation. The more theories a respondent subscribed to, the more likely they were to choose alternative health practices. As many as 49% of Americans believe in at least one medical conspiracy theory.
