Older Adults + Fluoridated Water = Teeth!
A recently released research brief from Trinity College Dublin found that “adults living in areas with greater water fluoridation were more likely to have maintained their natural teeth.” The study, which used data from The Irish Longitudinal Study on Ageing (TILDA) and Census 2006, controlled for a number of potential confounding factors before drawing this conclusion.
The Effect of Water Fluoridation on the Dentition and Bone Health of Older People in Ireland also found that there was no significant difference in bone health of older people living in communities with differing degrees of water fluoridation.
