Michigan Communities Receive Grants for Fluoridation Equipment
Four communities in Michigan have received state grants to be used for new fluoridation equipment. The communities include Portage, South Haven, Monroe, and Clare. According to the Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH), 90 percent of the population in Michigan has fluoridated drinking water. The grants were made possible by a $100,000 donation from the Delta Dental Foundation.
“Water fluoridation benefits all residents of a community and it has demonstrated its effectiveness in preventing tooth decay throughout one’s lifetime,” said Dr Matthew Davis, Chief Medical Executive with the MDCH.
