A Farmington City Council meeting on July 28 included a discussion of resident’s opinions of fluoridation of the community’s drinking water. Dr Thomas LaMartina (a Farmington dentist), Sherry Cauley (Director of Upward Smiles clinic) and Debbie Hoehn (Director of the St Francois County Health Center) addressed the council to express their support of the city continuing fluoridation. Dr LaMartina noted that he has observed children in the community have stronger teeth. He went on to say that:

“I think taking it completely out of the water system is a step backwards and there will be consequences to that. I’m coming because I believe in it.”

The city council plans to discuss the issue further during an administrative services meeting on August 18.
