New Pregnancy and Oral Health Video from AMCHP

This video from the Association for Maternal and Child Health Programs (AMCHP) perfectly depicts why dental care is the last thing on an expectant mother’s mind and why it should be one of the first! Pregnant mothers have so many things to do and decisions to make and getting to the dentist often falls to the wayside. Unfortunately, not getting regular dental care during a time when oral health can be challenged can mean more cavities for mom and a higher risk of cavities in her children. Finding a dentist to treat pregnant women as well as paying for dental care can be challenging and this video also addresses these issues. Share this video and help more pregnant women get the dental care they need.

Pregnant women should talk with their doctor and their dentist about their oral health and what they can do to stay healthy for themselves and their new baby. Brushing with fluoride toothpaste twice per day, drinking water with fluoride, flossing, and eating a healthy diet that is low in sugar are all good places to start!
